The Cathedral Church of St Marie lies hidden away in central Sheffield' pedestrian shopping area. This Roman Catholic cathedral dates from 1847 when the original chapel in nearby Fargate was deemed too small for its congregation.

Sheffield Cathedral is Sheffield's oldest building and is a centre of worship for the Diocese of Sheffield, serving the whole of South Yorkshire. Dating from the 12th century it holds regular services for one and all.
